Carol Leone of Air Fax, hired me to shoot some photos for their new website soon to launch. The main photo we need is the shot above. The rest were extras for the company. The day was gorgeous and made for some pretty dynamic images. There will be likely more images in the future, but check all these for now.

This was one of the first shots we took. Technically an out-take, but I really enjoy the lighting.

Here is the second part of the Comeback Kid, Symptoms & Cures tour, from Douglasville, GA at the 7 Venue. This post is made up of photos of Atlanta’s own Foundation and Comeback Kid themselves. You may have seen my photos from the last time I shot CBK up in Chattanooga with This Is Hell and The Chariot. If you haven’t, check it out! First off, I was stoked to shoot Foundation. I’ve been to countless hometown shows that they have played, but this time, I just so happen to be taking photos.

It was great to see the CBK dudes again, catch up, stage dive, and snag some shots of them. They are, honestly, some of the nicest dudes and I appreciate Andrew and the rest of the guys supporting what I do. Below, you’ll see we snagged a quick group shot before they hit the stage. You’ll also notice their new guitarist Stu Ross (also singer of Living With Lions). So now, go, like all their facebook pages, buy their merch if you feel inclined, and support all these hard working bands.

COMEBACK KID

Now, shooting hardcore shows is probably the hardest thing for me to shoot. Not because it’s technically hard to get good shots, because I’ve been doing it since I started taking photos. It’s because you have to decide, “Do I get out and sing this part?” “Do I shoot that song?” “Do I stage during that one?” etc. etc. Literally, it’s hard to control the urge to headwalk with a camera in your hand. The whole point of hardcore is to experience it, not to be entertained. Yet if you shoot it, you sometimes miss the experience of a great moment in order to capture it. You could technically say you experience, but throwing your body off a stage or screaming your lungs out while climbing over mounds of kids is whole different experience than snapping a rad shot of it.

This is the first post from this Comeback Kid, Symptoms & Cures Tour, show. It features Such Gold (Rochester, NY), Living With Lions (Vancouver, BC), & Face All Fears (Local Atlanta Hardcore). Face All Fears started the show off. I had never seen these dudes, but it was great to see local kids support them at this show. Living With Lions played after, opener for the tour. It is great to see a band like this touring with hardcore/punk bands. Straight Canadian punk rock, I enjoyed these guys a lot. Then Such Gold set it off. I was real pumped to see these guys and Georgia welcomed them well. Take a look at all the bands on Facebook, like them if you feel inclined, & buy their merch.

These are images from my shoot with Kima Charysse, a rad R&B/Gospel artist local to the Atlanta area. Here single “Jesus Will” has already hit radio stations throughout the south. She is mad talented and one of the sweetest clients I’ve had a pleasure of working with. She was a trooper too, no jacket, one of the coldest days of this winter (a rare one oddly enough), yet she handled it like it was nothing. This past Saturday, March 10th, 2012, Rolling Stone hired me to shoot Jack White live for RollingStone.com‘s coverage of White’s kick off solo tour for his new album “Blunderbuss” and for their Hottest Live Photos 2012 Gallery. This was an honor in many different respects. The show was in Chattanooga, TN at the newer Track 29 venue. And I have to say, Track 29‘s General Manager, Monica Maples Kinsey, ruled. She had everything running so smooth and it was one of the easiest times I’ve ever had  getting what I need from a venue with a bigger show. Even the Security rocked, and that’s saying something!

Finally, after a long, shortest month of the year, month, I have time to post a blog! Believe it or not I spent most of my February shooting and editing, editing, editing, and shooting. But now, with all that editing, I have plenty of blogs to post.

My good friends, Take Care, Stranger, released their new EP late December. These are images from the EP release show with The Revels & Josh Fletcher at The Vinyl. I’m pumped to be posting these images! I shot with Rudy around the end of 2011 for his new work that he will be putting out this 2012. The guy is an extremely talented musician and singer. Back in 2009 he won Hard Rock’s “Ambassadors of Rock” battle of the bands. He went on to play on the same stage as Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Neil Young, and The Killers at London’s Hyde Park. Sunday January 8th, 2012 I was on my way to Buckhead Church and fog was everywhere. It was incredible. So I pulled over down a back road near my house, whipped out my new iPhone, and instagrammed the first of the instagrams at the very bottom of the post. Now, I wanted to stop a few good times to snap some images, but I couldn’t on account of already being late… but was really hoping the next morning would be just as foggy. To my delight it was! So I got my butt up out of the bed after only a few hours of sleep to go get inspired.

Sure enough I went to some locations I had always wondered about (those you see above and below)… I was beyond stoked about how beautiful these scenes were. Now, the locations are marked, the wheels are spinning, and I cannot wait to use some of these locations on some newer personal shoots I am working on.

I also have to say, I am truly excited about this 4S and it’s capabilities. I’m not always going to have a camera on me and it’s gonna be great to whip my phone out, see how a shot could look, and go back and get what I really want. It inspired me to get my rear out of the car, then up early to go enjoy the craft I love and learn a little.

Instagrams.

About mid-Novemeber I shot with my good friend Ark of Take Care, Stranger for his new and upcoming EP release. The spot we were able to shoot was a unexpected surprise, because we had another place in mind until we past this beautiful location on the way to the original destination. BTW: This is one reason why it never hurts to ask someone to use their land. We passed this gorgeous scene on top of a huge golden hill on a farm. We parked at the owners house and saw him working out back. We walked up and told him what we were doing and he was too cool about it and let us right on back. I’m kicking myself for not getting an overall view of the place so I could post just how beautiful it was from a distance. So we trucked up this huge hill and this is what we got.

On the way to shoot, Ark let me listen to the EP as a whole. I am completely stoked for it’s release and for everyone to hear it. The CD Release show is on December 16th! CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS!
